By the way, "fragrances" listed can be used as an herb, flower, perfume, oil, incense or bath salts. With that in mind, you can almost cover all four elements with that! Anoint your candle with the oil, fresh flowers for earth, and incense for air. And don't forget to take your ritual bath first (in a freshly scrubbed tub, of course); otherwise you'll track in all the negative energies you've been carrying around with you all day *g*

As you can see below, the numbers in bold are the best hours in which to work. These are not layman's hours; these are magician's hours. You are to use these from sunrise to sunrise.

Check your paper for a listing of when the sun will rise on the day you wish to cast your spell. Also, check when the sun will rise the following day. If it says sunrise 6:23am, then that's hour 1. 7:23am would be hour 2, ect.

Also, if the hour of the day is important, certainly the cycle of the moon. Remember, day after and including a waxing (full) moon to begin something, and the day after and including the new (waning) moon to end or banish something. I suggest to get as close to or on the waxing or waning moon, since it will have the highest impact. Your local paper or most calendars will give you this information.

Don't be shy to add a chant, prayer, music or whatever you believe will help you! Once your spell is cast, it's best to not dwell or speak of what you have done. Doing so will pull back some of that energy you've put out to the cosmos. Remember the four to's:

I know it can be really difficult, but if you truly want your spell to work, you need to follow those basic principles :)

Other aspects to consider would be tarot, astrology and/or qaballah correlations. An example would be Temperance, which ties to Sagittarius and has blue as a significating color. If you are familiar using the Thoth (Crowley) tarot deck, this should be easier for you, since those cards seem to give the most concise information. However, they are not really intentioned for beginners, since the cards are very detailed and may be difficult to read. Oh - and no, those cards are not just for Thelemites and other Ceremonial Magicians, either; if someone tells you different, ignore them!

There's plenty more information available, but these tables should get you started on spellwork. I urge you to do your own research with actual books, collect notes and work from them. This, however, doesn't mean you have to *buy* them! Major libraries carry books for Pagans, and you can browse at a Barnes and Noble's as long as you like (but buy a coffee or something, ok?)
